The idea of “letting go of your ego” was something I came across years ago. It sounded appealing to me.
One of the focuses of my growth was to get rid of my ego. It is difficult to find someone who doesn’t love the joy of a child’s smile, innocence, and honesty.
It is liberating to watch them lose themselves in something that they love. It’s something I have found that many people avoid when they reach adulthood. I believe the main reason is to keep themselves safe from getting hurt; this is, in retrospect, more of a sign of weakness than strength.

That ego voice causes so much anxiety, worry, and suffering. It is possible to silence this voice, so it doesn’t have such an overwhelming effect on your life. What is Ego?
The Greek and Latin words for “ego” are literally “I” or “Self,” but in a philosophical sense, it is called “self.”
Although ego can be a part of our personality positively or negatively, many people end up doing more harm than good by letting their ego take control.
Ego is what keeps you in your own world and away from the moment. Ego can have a very important function. It gets us excited and alerts us to the dangers around the corner. Nowadays, we don’t encounter such dangers as often. Ego now is most likely in industrious things and needs to feel important and employed; this is done by inducing fear, self-judgement, and judgement of others.
How To Let Go Of Ego And Live Life To The Fullest
1. Discover Your True Values
To let go of your ego, the first step is to discover what you value in your life. Do you value money? Do you value being liked by others?
People often take things too far and don’t see the larger picture. Let go of your ego if money is your most important value, and let it guide you to making sensible financial decisions.
Suppose love and relationships are the most important things to you. Stop putting yourself in situations that allow others to take advantage of your situation for their personal gain.
2. Recognize when you are most likely to be ego-driven

- Honesty allows us to connect with ourselves without pretending to be someone else, and of course, improving ourselves.
- You can learn to say no to things that don’t add value to your life and then open your arms to embrace the things that will.
Being open-minded means being open to all ideas, arguments, information, and other perspectives. Open-mindedness is generally considered to be a positive quality. This is necessary to think rationally and critically.
It doesn’t necessarily mean being open-minded will be easy. Openness to new ideas and experiences can lead to confusion and cognitive dissonance when new information contradicts existing beliefs. Learning and personal growth are made possible by modifying and revising incorrect beliefs.

6. Surrender your need for control
- Let go of your fears and live in the moment. Do not be afraid to love. Take chances, explore.
Stop trying to control other people’s lives; if someone challenges you at work or school, don’t let your ego get the better of you. Don’t let your anger get out of control.
7. Consider how much energy and time you spend on your ego
This is where you need to do some soul-searching.
It is worth asking yourself if your energy and focus on what others think of you can be better used for something productive, like pursuing a career or learning a new hobby.
Consider how much time you spend worrying about others and thinking negatively about yourself. This is energy that could be used to learn new skills that will help you in the future; let go of the ego that wastes your time.

8. Imagine what could happen if your ego was released
There are many benefits to letting go of the need for protection of your feelings, which is tied to ego.
Let’s take, for example, an insult that someone has made to you. Instead of trying to get upset or prove them wrong, just let it go and let it roll off your shoulders.
You can let go of the need for everyone to think highly about you and focus on what’s most important in your life, such as meaningful work or quality time with loved ones.
9. Practice gratitude

- Every day, take 5 minutes to reflect on all the people, events, lessons, and mistakes you are grateful for.
- Grateful people feel more connected to others and have more joy than people who don’t.
Although it is easy to say that letting go of your ego can be easy, it can be difficult to do in the moment. Every time I think back to times when I was frustrated, I remember one thought that resonates within me: “Drop your ego!” There is nothing to lose, but there are many things you can do to make your life better.
Everyone wants a happy and fulfilled life.
You will have a comfortable job, a happy family, financial stability, and a wonderful social life.
In this endless pursuit of happiness, how often do you take a moment to be grateful for what you already have in this moment?
Gratitude can be a powerful emotion. We can find the joy we are looking for everywhere else by sending and receiving simple “thank you” messages.

10. You can let go of the need for perfection all the time
